According to the research, Most of the Malaysian Chinese are descendants of Chinese who arrived between the 15th and the mid-20th centuries. Most Chinese immigrants to Malaya came from southern China, mostly of Fujian and Guangdong provinces. This statement could show that the Malaysian food culture is more based on the Fujian and Guangdong culture. Beside that, the Chinese in Malaysia belong to several Chinese dialect groups. The six major dialect groups include the Hakka, Cantonese, Hokkien, Teochew, Hainanese and Hokchiu. This could show that the chinese food culture also related to their dialect groups. It is interesting.

Research - Age, income affect healthy diet choice

3/8/2006 - Almost two thirds of American adults consider themselves healthy eaters, and almost half say they try to follow some type of health-conscious diet, incorporating ‘healthy’ foods into their daily meals and snacks, says a new report.
The study, by market researcher Harris Interactive, was based on an online poll conducted last month of 1,040 adults.
The answers submitted revealed that the age and income of consumers had a significant impact on their choice of diet. 75 percent of respondents aged over 55 considered themselves to be healthy eaters, compared to 47 percent of those aged 18 to 34. And as income rose, so did attention to diet; out of those earning under $35,000, 55 percent said they followed a healthy diet, whereas the number rose to 74 percent when income was over $75,000. .....................

Research - Definition of Malaysian Chinese

A Malaysian Chinese is an overseas Chinese who is a citizen or long-term resident of Malaysia. Most are descendants of Chinese who arrived between the 15th and the mid-20th centuries. Within Malaysia, they are usually simply referred to as "Chinese" in all languages. The term Chinese Malaysian is less commonly used in Malaysia.
Early Chinese settlers (from the 15th century in Malacca; 18th century in Penang) form to a sub-group called Peranakan or Straits Chinese, who adopted many Malay customs and to varying extents (limited in Penang, almost complete in Malacca) the Malay language, but retained Chinese religious practices. In contrast, the newer arrivals (19th century and later) who retained Chinese customs were known as sinkheh (新客 - literally "new guests").
The Chinese in Malaysia maintain a distinct communal identity and rarely intermarry with native Malays for religious and cultural reasons. This is because most Malays are Muslim. Such a marriage in Malaysia requires the non-Muslim party to convert in order for the marriage to be legal. Most Malaysian Chinese consider their being "Chinese" at once an ethnic, cultural and political identity.
The Malaysian Chinese have traditionally dominated the Malaysian economy, but with the advent of racialist affirmative action policies by the Malaysian government to protect the interests of ethnic Malays, their share has eroded somewhat. On most counts however, they still make up the majority of the middle and upper income classes of Malaysia. As of 2004, the Chinese population in Malaysia is nearly 7 million people.......

Research - what is Malaysia chinese food...?

Chinese merchants and traders have long ago been linked to the Malayan Peninsula in the South China Sea. The natural port of Malacca was a strategic trading post and a vital link to other traders from far across the globe. In order to establish trade and diplomatic ties, the ruling Chinese Emperor ordered a royal entourage to escort Princess Hang Li Po to marry the Sultan of Malacca. This historic juncture marked the first Chinese settlers in the port town of Malacca on the Malayan Peninsula. Many of these early settlers intermarried and integrated with local Malays, forming a unique community called Peranakan.
It was, however, later in history during the 1800s, that the Chinese came in masses to the Malayan Peninsula. It was during the era of the last European colonists, the British, that a large influx of Chinese journeyed to the Malayan Peninsula for employment. Tin had long since been discovered in the jungles of the Malayan Peninsula. It was only now under the British, that large scale tin mining was viable and operational. The booming tin mining industry attracted the much needed workforce of Chinese who came in large numbers, mostly from the Southern provinces of China. These early Chinese migrants were guest workers who came with the intention of one day returning to their homeland and families. Although the majority of Chinese were employed in the tin mining industry, some were small business merchants and artisans. Various small businesses, those supporting the tin mining industry and those in general soon contributed to the initial economic growth of the country. When Malaysia gained independence from the British in 1957, many Chinese returned to their homeland in China; and many more chose to stay, making up 26% of today's population of 22 million in Malaysia.

The target audience can be divided into two group of generation. The group between 18 to 30 years old could be name as youth and the group between 31 to 55 years old should be named as the aged. According to the research done, the youth is more interested to the object which is creative, interesting, high interactive. Beside that, getting influence by the Hollywood science fiction movie, most of the youth are more interested to the high technology concept feature.

Beside that, the aged think that the traditional feature like wood chair, decorated (stone) archway, traditional eating material is the only feature to represent the Chinese food. According to their comment, the most memorable thing in Chinese culture is the oldies or traditional culture but not modern technologies.
